| House Republicans are trying to slime Joe Biden again with a claim that they themselves debunked in 2020. - Quote :
- But an 87-page report summing up the findings, released jointly on Wednesday by the Senate Homeland Security and Finance Committees, contained no evidence that the elder Mr. Biden improperly manipulated American policy toward Ukraine or committed any other misdeed. In fact, investigators heard witness testimony that rebutted those charges.
Now they've had to admit that the promised audio recordings from a discredited party probably do not exist. And this "whataboutism" is being used to counter the Trump indictments. It's like a bad novel it is. - Quote :
- Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin boasted for weeks that his findings would demonstrate Mr. Biden’s “unfitness for office.” Instead, the result delivered on Wednesday appeared to be little more than a rehashing six weeks before Election Day of unproven allegations that echo an active Russian disinformation campaign and have been pushed by Mr. Trump.

| I don’t get it. Wasn’t all this Hunter Biden crap conclusively debunked in 2020? Now it’s back again, thanks to Jim Jordan, the premier legal brain of our generation. Anything to cast whataboutism during the presidential campaign. And it's not even Joe Biden. It's his son. |

| - Thom Hartmann wrote:
- As I pointed out on the air two weeks ago, the Hunter Biden thing is a Russian disinformation operation. Attorney General Merrick Garland elevated the Trump-appointed prosecutor who’s been investigating and prosecuting Hunter Biden for the past five years to Special Counsel status along with Jack Smith. This move, done to please Republicans, comes even as the last three witnesses James Comer said would be “blockbusters” to prove criminality among President Biden and his son have turned out to prove the exact opposite, testifying that the President never took bribes and all his conversations with is son were about family and the weather. So far, Hunter has been charged with not paying his taxes for two years (he has since paid up, with penalties) and owning a gun while being a drug addict (a crime that’s rarely prosecuted). The GOP’s big charge against him, however, is that he made five or ten million dollars in Ukraine by leveraging his position as the then-Vice President’s son. Which raises the question: why aren’t they looking into Jared and Ivanka? Those two made almost $200 million while working in the White House and $2 billion in the weeks after they left that post, not to mention the millions in patents the Chinese government gave Ivanka when she accompanied Donald to Beijing. On top of that, there’s growing evidence that the so-called “Hunter Biden Laptop” was actually built by Russian agents after that country hacked his iCloud account and cloned his data onto it (and then tweaked it to become even more incriminating/embarassing), then dropped the Trojan Horse off at the blind computer guy’s shop (who just happened to be a friend of Rudy’s). This stinks.
I can ALMOST understand the appointment of a Special Counsel to once-and-for-all lay to rest the Russian disinformation campaign. But, to do it as an open-ended multi-month "investigation," just as the presidential campaign gets underway, is NOT understandable. Jim Jordan doesn't care that the 5-year investigation has already resolved the issue. He's not interested in the truth; his sole purpose is to cast doubt and hurt Biden in the election. Why THE FUCK is Merrick Garland giving him ammunition??? |

| MTG has McCarthy's balls on a leash, he has to do her bidding. Matt Gaetz is not satisfied with the lukewarm effort, and will likely call for a new SOTH vote with his fellow nut job Bohbert. This House has already been one of the least productive in history. They're toying with the idea of shutting down the government and going the rest of the session without a Speaker. Any substantial disruption will definitely kill the GOP. At least the Freedom Caucus will get paid. In rubles. |

| According to Thom Hartman, Hunter Biden purchased a gun but never loaded it. His girlfriend took it away from him in eleven days because she feared he bought it to commit suicide.
Supposedly, the crime of failing to check the "I'm a drug user" box on the firearms purchase form has NEVER been prosecuted before, except once when it tacked onto the charges of a drug-user who used his new gun to kill somebody.
And this from the party that made it easy for convicted felons, people with restraining orders against them, and the mentally ill to purchase guns without any restriction.
What a world. |

| Two new items. - I heard on the news this morning that the law Hunter Biden was charged under, failure to check a box on a gun registration, has never been tested in court. The Hunter Biden legal team may file to contest it in court, as an infringement on his unencumbered Second Amendment right to buy and own firearms. If successful, his charge would have to be dismissed before it ever gets tried in court.
That would be a novel twist on Republicans' gun policy.
- Merrick Garland is appearing before the House this morning, to (ostensibly) answer questions from Jim Jordan about the conduct of the Hunter Biden case. Garland has repeated, over and over, that the investigation is in the hands of Special Council David Weiss, and that he, Garland, has no control over the investigation.
This isn't good enough for Jordan's Jerkoffs, who are using the opportunity to make speech after speech promoting their wacky conspiracy theories. Since they can't make any headway on the Hunter Biden case, they've been veering off into more and more ridiculous unrelated issues.
It's not often I laugh out loud. It's EXCEEDINGLY rare that I get into a LOL fit and can't stop.
It happened this morning when a Republican from Wisconsin (I think) badgered Garland to a standoff, and then said, "I'd like to pivot to something else now. Two months ago I wrote you a letter about a naked bike ride event being held in Madison, and you have not responded to my letter. Why is that?"
Garland: "Well, it sounds like you're asking me about a local or state law enforcement issue..."
Rep: "They refused to do anything about it. I was hoping YOU would step in!"
I almost passed out laughing. |

| This is somewhat amusing. Hunter Biden sues Rudy Giuliani and another lawyer over accessing and sharing of his personal dataAnd then on Quora I see: How can Hunter Biden sue Rudy Giuliani for hacking his laptop when the Biden's and the 51 high intelligence officers said the laptop was "Russian Misinformation" and that the laptop wasn't real? - Barry Goldberg wrote:
- It’s actually quite a brilliant strategy on Hunter Biden’s part. The lawsuit does not actually admit that the laptop in question belonged to him, only that some of the content on that laptop was his. And it is clear that Giuliani was involved in disseminating that content.
As a result, Giuliani has two choices. He can keep claiming that the laptop really did belong to Hunter, which is tantamount to admitting guilt for illegally accessing the information and disseminating it, or else he can admit that the laptop didn’t actually belong to Hunter and that all the supposedly incriminating information found there in was planted. |

| Indicted. Joyce Vance said in her 25 years as a tax fraud attorney, she's never seen a defendant charged after he paid back the missing taxes with penalty. This is a first. |

| Chaos in the Crazy Caucus. The Committee was set to vote on holding Hunter Biden in contempt for failure to appear before their committee, after he FIVE TIMES offered to appear, if the questioning was in public rather than behind closed doors. So today he unexpectedly showed up, at the Committee hearing, to once again offer in person to answer questions but only in public, so the Republicans can't misquote or spin what he says. So what do they do? Utter chaos. They wouldn't even let him appear. What. A. Bunch. Of. Fucking. Clowns. |

Of course it's PAINFULLY obvious this is all "whataboutism" where Trump's allies are trying to paint "The Biden Crime Family" as every bit as corrupt and venal as The Trump Crime Family. Good luck with that, Don. |
