Or it might not.

1. It does sound like a politically-motivated lawsuit, in timing if not in content.

2. Trump is well-established as a serial adulterer and rapist who pays his victims to stay silent. His followers do not seem to be bothered by this ultimate 'alpha male' behavior.

3. The Clintons play a very dangerous game if they begin painting Trump as a sexual predator.

Consider that for several months now, every time the woman turned the television on, she was confronted with the man's image and voice. Perhaps that explains the timing.

I don't think that child rape is a sign of "alpha male" behavior.

This case has nothing to do with the Clintons, neither of whom have been accused of raping children to the best of my memory.

This election season promises to be a no-holds-barred mud wrestle. Expect more of the same from both camps.

And hilariously, both camps are vulnerable targets.

"more of the same"? Then you think the Clinton campaign staged this lawsuit?

Why is the Clinton campaign vulnerable to such maneuvers?

Each camp -- dems and gops -- will spend about a $billion (with a 'b') in this election cycle. Most of it will be 'soft money' or 'dark money' which is not traceable back to the candidate him- or herself. Most of it will be spent in smear campaigns of one sort or another, involving lawsuits, planted news stories, Twitter wars, resurrection of long-buried allegations and sudden demands to hold hearings in Congress, video footage from long ago showing the candidates in unflattering or now-discredited positions, eye witness accounts of improprieties from individuals who suddenly have come forward after decades of silence.

As I've been saying all along, Hillary is wide open to such smear campaigns. Her past is a cesspool. Her already-low approval ratings will be in the twenties by November.

Donald may have her beat in the arena of shady pasts, but the difference is, none of his supporters care.

The Republicans are frothing at the mouth about Hillary sending emails that were classified - except that they were classified after she sent them. They think she should be indicted, and that would end her candidacy. Now Trump could be arrested for statutory rape - surely that's at least as bad. What if they are both unfit?

"What if"? Surely you're jesting.

It's undeniable now, if it wasn't eight years ago, that nobody qualified wants the job.

What in Clinton's past is a cesspool? Her husband? Her emails? What exactly rises to the level of cesspool? And I'm not talking about Republican accusations; I mean reality.

And why is she unqualified for the job?

The truth is, Hillary is at least as honest as any other candidate in recent history, and far more qualified than almost any of them. However, Republicans plus not a few others consider her dishonest, a liar and a crook. Check out this Facebook post for a perspective.

Indeed. Google "Hillary + liar" and see what comes up.

Don't be concerned about factual accuracy. Her critics aren't.

Indeed. But I would hope that the discussions we have here could stick to fact.

Fair enough. But Hillary's history, including Whitewater, Vince Foster, Benghazi, email gate, Monica Lewinski, Paula Jones, travel gate, Asia fundraising, haircut gate, etc. give her critics plenty of ammunition, even if most of these have been conclusively debunked. Her goose is cooked from too much heat.

Director Comey's decision not to charge Hillary with any wrongdoing won't be the end of this story, not by a long shot.

Expect Trump and the GOP (note the two are not synonymous and never will be) to insinuate that lack of evidence of criminal action is not evidence of lack of wrongdoing, but rather implicit evidence of a cover up.
