Spam we never finished reading

I've been getting a lot of Arabic spam again lately. A few times it got past the filter into my inbox, which was annoying, but now the filter seems to have learned and catches it. Anybody else seeing this?

Not me.

I haven't seen any.

I wonder what I do that looks arabic.

The obvious problem is that you don't have a Capital One account.

I do have a Capital One account and I received a similar eSpam some time ago. I ignore all emails from financial institutions that ask for updates, verifications, etc. Last year I received an email asking me to fill out a survey for a credit union. Before I would even click on the link to the survey, I called the credit union and verified that it was valid.

A couple of minutes ago, I got an email from Capital One. It stated that they had noticed two charges for the same amount, from the same vendor, on the same day. I looked and they were valid charges, bit it's kind of nice that they are tracking transactions so carefully.

That seemed suspect to me so I steered clear.

Come to re-read it there's a typo I missed too: "knowledge of approval"

I got hacked today -- got an e-mail from a contractor we've been waiting for a bid from, so I opened it. It asked me a bunch of questions (the bid was supposed "secured") and I stupidly answered the questions.

Hope I didn't screw the pooch.

I sent the details to Experian, with whom I have an account.

Got this other one which was easier to figure:

Why Experian? They're just a credit reporting company, aren't they?

A year or so ago our insurance carrier at work got hacked.  Because our personal data was at risk they gave each of us two years of coverage from Experian*, which was supposed to be "identity theft protection."  

Never had a reason to test it before.

Dunno what to expect.  But I have an account number at least.



* - Protectmyid.com, my account shows active until 3/31/2017.  I guess I got THREE years of coverage.  Remains to be seen what if anything they can do.  I have alerted my bank.
