A genuinely creepy movie about a possible apocalypse--maybe? The actual facts are a little unclear.
But some really harrowing scenes, and some very imaginative staging. Unfortunately the camerawork often sucks, and the music is bad and inappropriate, and the editing was not great.
But, overall -- except for an inconclusive ending -- it was real nightmare stuff (in a good way).

On reflection:
There were parts that don't make any sense. A drone dropping leaflets? They don't have that capability.
And it was flying as slow as a biplane.
Sometimes the power grid was down, other times people had plenty of electricity. Maybe they had generators? Never explained.
Over the two or three days of the movie, nobody's iPhone or iPad needed charging.
The ending not only was maddeningly inconclusive, it was dumb. It was probably supposed to be "cute" but it was totally unmotivated.

Conservatives fixating on a character’s distrust of white people as a “gotcha” moment either misunderstand the intense and layered film, or, more likely, haven’t bothered to watch it and are looking for a reason to attack the Obamas. Even more, they are looking for an opportunity to undermine a story about how we might transcend our racial antagonisms, preferring that we stay ensnarled in them.
Conservatives are fixated on trashing this film because they know the hopefulness presented by Barack and Michelle Obama is a rejection of the cynicism they promote.
