Conventional wisdom says that the party in power, in the White House and Congress, loses seats in the mid-term as people adjust their expectations.
I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say Democrats will WIN seats, and a lot of them, in 2022.
By then Biden's COVID bill will have improved everyone's lives. The infrastructure bill will have passed, with no Republican votes, and it'll be wildly popular. The Voting Rights bill will have passed, and it'll be wildly popular.
Meanwhile what's left of the Republican Party will still be shooting themselves in the foot with Q-Anon conspiracies and worship of a multiply-convicted felon.
I don't see how the GOP comes back from this in only a year.
You see, Obama was elected in 2008 on a hopey-changey agenda. When he didn't deliver, because Moscow Mitch kneecapped him and he was too afraid of being called "uppity" to go around him, the voters got fed up and elected an outsider to shake things up.
That turned out disastrously as we all know.
So if Biden delivers real change, if he bypasses the obstructionism in the Senate, he'll be the most popular president in 50 years. People are hungry for it.
