| The more you look into this Biden-Burisma thing, the hankier it looks. It's complicated, it's grey, it's way beyond what the electorate can or will follow. I suspect the bottom line will be, Joe will be forced to withdraw from the race. The sooner the better, as far as I'm concerned. We don't need any more candidates carrying the taint of scandal. |

| You can read & download the whistleblower letter here. The gist of the conspiracy theory, apparently, is this: Known facts: The DNC hired a California cybersecurity firm named Crowdstrike to investigate the hacking of their servers. Crowdstrike traced the hack back to Russian nationals supported by the Kremlin. They turned over their findings to the FBI and CIA intelligence agencies, who verified and publicly stated these conclusions. Wild ass speculations: Crowdstrike's founder, Dmitri Alperovitch, was born in Russia and emigrated to the US as a teenager. Crowdstrike has funding ties to Google, whose former CEO supported Hillary's presidental bid. Alperovitch is also a senior fellow at The Atlantic Council, funded by Viktor Punchuk, a Ukrainian national. THEREFORE, somehow Ukraine is behind the whole Steele Dossier and Mueller investigation, and initiated the DNC hack to discredit the Trump campaign. In fact, the DNC server -- with Hillary's 33,000 missing e-mails? -- is probably in Ukraine. It's enough to make your head spin. But this is what Trump & Giuliani are asking demanding Ukraine investigate before they'll release the foreign aid. |

| Trump is pushing a fake scandal once again. Don’t buy it. - Washington Post wrote:
- Because of Donald Trump, Fox News, and the army of sycophants, bots, trolls and grifters that support Trump’s version of reality online, millions of Americans falsely believe that it was actually Joe Biden who did something dodgy in Ukraine. They can’t quite put their finger on it, perhaps, but something must have happened. After all, the president of the United States says so.
But there’s just one problem: That narrative is a lie. It’s not a false claim or misleading spin. It’s just a straight-up lie. The allegations against the former vice president are baseless. Nonetheless, Trump and his toadies have repeatedly and wrongly insinuated that Biden pressured a Ukrainian prosecutor to drop an investigation into Biden’s son, Hunter, who was on the board of a Ukrainian gas company at the time. Every aspect of that claim is not just wrong; it’s a total inversion of the truth.
First, there never was an investigation into Joe Biden or his son in Ukraine. It simply never happened. It’s a figment of Trump’s imagination, a fever dream that he hopes will distract from the reality of his all-too-real scandal — a scandal that threatens to destroy his presidency.
Second, when then-vice president Biden got involved in Ukrainian politics during the Obama years, he did pressure the Ukrainian government to fire a prosecutor named Viktor Shokin, not to protect Biden’s son, but because Shokin was notoriously corrupt. As part of official U.S. government policy — and in lockstep with America’s European allies, the International Monetary Fund and democratic reformers — Biden pressured the Ukrainian government to replace a crooked and ineffective general prosecutor with someone who would actually crack down on shady business dealings. In short, Biden did exactly the opposite of what Trump claims; he worked to clean up Ukraine and create more aggressive prosecution of any impropriety, not get his hands dirty for his son. |

| Tom Steyer has made the cut for tomorrow's debate. It'll be interesting to see how he does. But you know what? I don't think being a successful businessman is precisely the skillset a poilitician needs to run a country. Countries aren't like companies. Businessmen in political office tend to make stupid businessman mistakes, and ignore all of the vagaries that make government so much more challenging than business. |

| Chatting with a couple of women in the elevator the other day, one of them argued that Biden had to be the candidate because too many idiots just will not vote for a woman or a gay man. And, to be honest, the argument is not without merit.
So I suggested a nasty trick. Biden-Warren is the ticket, and blows the Republicans away. After a brief interval to provide plausible deniability, say 3-6 months, Joe resigns because of ill-health. As the new president, Warren appoints Buttiegeg as her VP. Mission accomplished - dream team installed. |

Hat Trick: - First Black president
- First woman president
- First openly-gay (vice)president

| Klobuchar is looking better and better, She's a centrist, and realistic. She does not yell. When she speaks, she makes sense.
Klobuchar-Buttigieg in 2020

| Julian Castro is out.
Bloomberg and Steyer have so far been unable to buy their way in.
Yang is hanging in there (surprisingly). |
