"The Clintons Got Rich Soliciting Donations from Dictators and Enemies of the U.S. for their Foundation"

This meme is repeated a lot in alt-right circles, and has been thrown at Hilary by Donald.  But it is easily disprovable:

On the surface its an easy question to answer: a quick trip to the foundation's website (Frequently Asked Questions) makes it clear that the Clintons (Bill, Chelsea, AND Hillary) do not take salary at all from the foundation:

"President Clinton and Chelsea Clinton, who serve on the Board of Directors, do not take a salary from the Clinton Foundation and receive no funding from it. Secretary Clinton did not take a salary when she served on the Board of Directors"

And before someone says well YEAH of COURSE they're lying! Here's the specific page from the foundation's IRS form 990 audtied filing that confirms that none of the Clintons receive any form of compensation from the foundation.

So that's the short answer: no.

Some people are trying desperately to fool people into believing that the fact that the foundation has some occasional large donors is indisputable evidence that Hillary is breaking a multitude of federal laws by somehow skimming millions off the top of the foundation and has successfully hidden those millions of missing dollars from the IRS and other agencies for decades.

It's an interesting theory that has absolutely no grounding in reality reflected through empirical evidence. There's been a lot of talk recently about the foundation but not much more. The foundation has been audited every year for decades (its the law) and it has never broken the law, let alone acted as a slush fund for the Clintons. Any insinuation to the contrary is an emotional one based on an irrational voter's partisan feelings, not actuality.

And that's the long answer: noooooooo.

As a side note: the Clintons earned their millions as highly successful lawyers before Bill became president and then afterwards, both earned a significant amount of money from speaking tours and book sales. Both are published and have made almost ~$15M from book sales alone.

It remains more than a little farcical, since we already know that Trump's "foundation" is little more than a slush fund for his personal use, and evidence of that didn't need mysterious "leaks" to get exposed. At best, Trump is suggesting that the Clintons might be doing something that we know for damn sure he has done.

Did the leaks show just a correlation or was a causal relation proven? Big difference.

Yesterday James Comey of the FBI released a letter to House Republicans indicating that the FBI's investigation of Hillary Clinton's e-mails was not over afterall (she'd been cleared of any wrongdoing in July).

Seems a laptop belonging to Anthony Weiner was seized by the FBI in their investigation of his sexting a 15-year old girl.  In examining the laptop, they discovered that Weiner's wife, Huma Abedin, had used the laptop to exchange "thousands" of emails with Hillary in her role as the vice-chairman of Hillary's campaign.  The FBI doesn't know if these are new emails, or just the other end of the same emails they examined on Clinton's mail server (which she turned over to them Aug 2015).  They don't know if Abedin's emails included any classified material (but why would they???)

Republicans of course are jumping with glee over the investigation being re-opened 11 days before the election, saying this proves Hillary is crooked.

Democrats are saying this is politically motivated, nothing was found before and nothing will be found this time.  Of course it'll take longer than 11 days to resolve this, meanwhile a huge cloud looms over Clinton just as people go to the polls.

Here's the interesting point.  James Comey was appointed by George W. Bush and is openly partisan against Clinton.  The timing was CLEARLY crafted to do maximum damage to her campaign.

Yet the Republican blogosphere on Fox is accusing Comey of not doing his job, of being part of a coverup, of being on Clinton's side for not indicting her in July.  Comey may have released this letter to show Donald Trump that he's not cozying up to Clinton.

JFC, what a cluster.

Jesus, the deeper you dig the more you realize what an inept hack hatchet job this whole thing is -- THREE emails, improperly marked, with NO EVIDENCE that her private email server was ever hacked.

Comey's actions remind me of J. Edgar Hoover during the Nixon Administration, and his attempts to influence elections.

Hopefully President Clinton's first act will be to throw his sorry ass out.

At the time Comey sent his latest letter:
- No emails had been inspected, so we don't even know for sure that any of them were to or from Hillary. It is a fair assumption that some of them, perhaps many, were, but we (and Comey) don't know.
- We also don't know if any of these putative emails were not released and examined by the FBI already. If the only stuff there is copies of emails the FBI has already examined, there is literally nothing to investigate.
- One thing we do know for sure is that any examination of these putative emails won't be complete until after the election. Can anyone say "October Surprise"?

At this point, Comey should be fired and denied pension.

According to this, none of the emails were to or from Hillary.

That seems highly unlikely, considered that Weiner's laptop was seized in an unrelated sexting-with-a-minor investigation, and only AFTER examining the laptop for two weeks did the FBI tell Congress that emails between Mrs. Weiner (Huma Abedin) and Mrs. Clinton were found on the laptop.

No, I don't doubt they found correspondence.

However, it's nearly certain that these emails are simply the other side of some of the 30,000+ emails examined on Hillary's email server back in 2015.  It would have to be very unusual circumstances for Abedin to have one half of the correspondence if Hillary's server didn't have the other half.

And, as Hillary's vice chairman of her campaign, Huma Abedin would have NO REASON and NO CLEARANCE for classified material.  To suggest that Hillary shared any with her, long after she left the Sec't of State position, is asinine.

Comey can and should be summarily removed from office, and charged under the Hatch Act.
