He also said the vans hadn't had all their bugs worked out yet. In particular, he said the transmissions were self-destructing at a rather alarming rate. As he pulled away, the sound of metal grinding against metal was unmistakable.

I saw my first Tesla truck "in the wild" yesterday. It was a bit of a surprise to me. Looking at the "cybertruck" in videos and still pictures it looks somewhat radical, but you can sort of see, maybe that would be ok. When you're on the sidewalk and one drives past, you think "Wow! That is the fucking ugliest thing I've ever seen on the road". I'm not kidding, that was my immediate gut reaction. I turned to a complete stranger standing nearby and said "What do you think?". He grimaced, and said "Why would anyone want one?". I didn't have an answer.

Apparently the EV world is being scammed with some mislabeled batteries. But what's with this translation?
Quote :
In the last few months, the automotive world has come to the knowledge of a rather large-scale fraud concerning automobile batteries, as the Spanish mechanic Ángel Gaitán exposed. Gaitán, who is well-known on all sorts of social networks, is now a prominent representative of the sector in identifying the frauds.
The automotive expert and TikTok sensation Ángel Gaitán, a mechanic, exposed an organized effort to concrete consumers by selling car batteries that don’t meet the result of being labeled. The deceit entails a multinational firm that tried to supply Gaitán’s workshop with lithium battery cells in the guise of more superior graphene capacitors from Dubai.
Of specific concern to Gaitán such batteries were advertised to last up to half a million charge cycles with very little loss of efficiency. When examined in detail, Gaitán realized that the batteries were, in fact, ordinary lithium batteries made in China that had been encased in vinyl and systematically disbanded.

as a business reporter, I can’t help but wonder what pushes people to drop such serious money on such a novel, decidedly weird-looking car that has been plagued by performance problems from Day One. “It’s a vehicle that’s certainly meant to make a statement,” said Jonathan Elfalan, the director of vehicle testing at Edmunds. “You can almost be a pseudo-celebrity by owning one.”
Of course, Elfalan notes, it’s not one that Edmunds recommends for people looking for, like, a truck.
Yes, Allison. One wonders. For that kind of money you could buy any number of pretty decent luxury cars. People who buy a Cybertruck instead, are either A. stupid or B. seeking attention or C. seriously misinformed or D. in love with malignant narcissists or E. some combination of the four.

Referenced in the above video:
What a cunt. Tucker Carlson doesn't know the difference between a kerf and a curve, and he barely mentions the Cybertruck he's supposedly reviewing. "Ultimate test"? He barely rides in it.
Besides which, Tucker and his Bubba seem to be very confused. They say the Cybertruck is for city elites, not "workin' men who need a rill truck." Then they go on to prove that the Cybertruck outperforms the F-350 in every measure.
The sawmill guy says he cuts his own lumber because he doesn't like paying sales tax at Home Depot. Two minutes later he's complaining about big companies buying up all the land "because they don't pay taxes." Yeah, who pays for road maintenance, moron?
Tucker's impressed with the gun collection in the truck, but five minutes later is doing 117 mph on country roads. Law & Order much?
Buncha fuckin' morons.

As a private citizen I'm not sure what anybody could do about it, but as a contributor and advisor to Trump's campaign this is kind of worrying. It's like there's a 'shadow government' in the world (Deep State anyone?) made up of unelected oligarchs and billionaires who get together and decide world foreign policy.

As if the Cybertruck wasn't enough of an eyesore already, Tesla is now selling huge, obnoxious light bars to be fitted onto its pickups.
There's just one small complication: these accessories are not only illegal to use on the road, but as Jalopnik reports, they're even illegal for Tesla to install.
But, call it clever or call it shady, Tesla has a workaround. As tech reviewer Marques Brownlee shared in a video about his experience, when he sent his Cybertruck to a Tesla dealership to get the add-on "installed," it only came back half-done.
Covered in black tape, the light bar was glued onto the top of the windshield. But none of the wiring was connected, so it wasn't fully installed. Instead, Tesla gave Brownlee the phone number and address of a local shop that could finish the job.
This is as dodgy as Tesla delivering trucks with extra-cost options billed but not installed. I wouldn't touch a Tesla with a 100 foot pole at this point.

Here it is, the "genius plan" to resolve Tesla's restricted range and lack of charging stations:
