I'm having a hard time finding the perfect reading lamp.
I like "full spectrum" or "natural" or "sunlight lamp" light, nice and bright and neutral color. I used to have
a specialized $150 "indoor sun" floor lamp with a gooseneck, it provided excellent light but every time you bumped the damn thing the bulb quit. The stupid bulbs were $36 apiece and I went through about six of them in a year.
I moved over to a
cheap ($40) variety-store equivalent, also fluorescent and gooseneck. They were a bit more durable (and I say "they" because I went through four of them in two years) but they failed from something internal, bulbs are still good but the wiring failed. I'm too fucking lazy to figure out how/why (Switches? Transformers? Pinched wires? Sockets?)
My latest find is a $150 LED floor lamp, durable as all-get-out but the light is on a cantilevered arm instead of a gooseneck so I can't really aim it at my book instead of in my eyes (my reading glasses pick up all sorts of reflections from top-mounted lights).
What I need is a design like the fluorescents but with a bank of LEDs instead.
Looking online I don't see one -- is this too fucking much to ask? Grrrr.
