We're up to the ninth episode of this and it's gotten better as it goes along. Stars Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez with a string of guest appearances, sort of like Kominsky Method. The first couple episodes were ruined (IMO) by Short's prancing about and overacting, a prissy Ed Grimly/Jiminy Glick kind of character which was nowhere near as clever as he thought it was. Thankfully, by the third episode somebody had slipped him a note and his character became tolerable.
Steve Martin is good as the ex-TV detective who's mostly clueless about crime. Selena Gomez is apparently a singer (wife tells me) but she does a bang-up job as an actor too.
The plot involves a murder in this staid NYC apartment building populated by old-money characters. The twists and turns really are surprising, and each week there's a cliffhanger which, surprisingly, has me anxious to tune in next week. Some of the cameos have been hilarious, and the show is full of understated nice touches.
