1. If you're in deep space, what acceleration would you need to maintain to create 1G of artificial gravity?

A. I believe it would be the escape velocity from Earth, wouldn't it? The pull of gravity? 9.8m/s/s right?

2. At 1G of acceleration, how long until you reach lightspeed?

A. This ones a little harder. I cheated and looked it up: 353.7 days, or almost a year. That's the back-of-an-envelope calculation. In point of fact you'd run into all sorts of time dilation and mass/energy complications as you approach C.
