No need to worry yet. They don't know if this virus actually makes people sick, and even if it does, they don't know if it's transmissible between people. But these fucking coronaviruses are going to be a pain in our collective ass for quite a while.

Heard that on NPR this morning. Corona viruses are everywhere, have been for years, but intra-species transmission is fairly new. This new Malaysian virus is not there yet, but is perhaps a harbinger of things to come.

Not unlike the world of "The Wind-Up Girl," where every edible plant is infected with "blister rust" and every edible meat is tainted with cibiscosis. Only patented seed-stock from the big agri-business is disease resistant (and insanely expensive, and sterile so you have to buy new stock every year).

I'm glad I'm old. Won't have to weather the worst of it.
