Yup. This agrees with my experience too --

Educational standards have fallen to such a low that misinformation is given priority over verifiable facts, with the result that an entire generation of Bubbas have their heads on wrong.

There is one base that he didn't touch: Not everyone so politically disposed is a religious fundamentalist. Many are just natural born assholes.
