| Watching some old Star Trek - season one. I am struck by the incredible noise produced by their "advanced" technology. All that beeping and squeaking would drive me absolutely insane. Isn't it feasible that part of the "advanced" bit would be silence?

Listen, if you want to rail against stupidity in science fiction why not call out George Lucas for engine noises in space? Gene Roddenberry for making interstellar travel take mere moments and no fuel? The general assumption that aliens are everywhere, are bipedal mammals, breathe air and speak English? |

| I don't like gruesome. That famous picture of Nguyen Ngoc Loan shooting Bay Lop has been reprinted a bazillion times too, but that doesn't make it any less horrific.
