| Uh, did the FBI investigate the 2008 financial collapse?
First I've heard about it. Who would've ordered the investigation? GWB and BO both put the crooks who caused it in charge of fixing it.
The FBI doesn't just open investigations for their own amusement.
Lots of journalists and writers have conducted their own investigations (Michael Lewis, Jane Mayer, Thom Hartman) and they have lots and lots of perps identified. That's the problem -- the "irrational exuberance" (thanks Alana Greenspan) was widespread, and hundreds and hundreds of traders participated. It wasn't just a few bad players. It was nearly everybody.
And like I said, rather than punish anybody/everybody, the subsequent administrations -- and we have no reason to expect HRC will be any different -- have ELEVATED these crooks to police themselves and be in charge of righting the ship they crashed on the rocks.
Which they mostly have done -- by doubling down on their risky investments with our money, and a government guarantee. |

| Much as I like Elizabeth Warren, she is a professor of bankruptcy law, not an expert on criminal investigations. Her grilling of John Stumpf was all political theater and grandstanding. It had no teeth. |

| The date of that article written years before the FCIC finished its investigation? Why is that meaningful? The Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission released its report in, I believe, 2011. The commission gave the DOJ information which they believed provided sufficient reason to investigate various firms and individuals. - Quote :
- Warren noted that the FCIC referred 11 cases to the DOJ in which the commission found “serious indication of violation” of federal banking laws, implicating nine individuals in those violations. “Not one of these nine has gone to prison or been prosecuted for a criminal offense,” Warren said.
Those named by the FCIC include top executives of some of the largest banks in the country and some of the most politically connected men on Wall Street, including Robert Rubin, former Bill Clinton treasury secretary and Citigroup chairman.
Warren’s staff also found 14 corporations the FCIC referred to the DOJ that were never criminally prosecuted. |

| The FCIC had no connection to the FBI, unless I missed something.
And like most Congressional inquiry panels, it had no teeth. It could only make "recommendations." IOW it was just a dog and pony show for the rubes. |

| And I'm still really pissed at Warren. She has all this political capital and righteous indignation, but she refuses to run for office or even accept an appointed position where she could actually effect some changes. Chickenshit. |

The FBI investigated the financial fiasco, acting on information from the FCIC report given to the DOJ. The FBI's policy has always been to only release information about investigations that do not result in criminal sanctions when there is compelling public interest in the matter. What Warren was asking was why the FBI would release such information about Clinton's email server and not release any information about their financial-industry investigation. She is asking that the results of that investigation be made public. Seems like a reasonable request. I know that this "rube" would be interested in knowing why the FBI and DOJ decided to not prosecute anyone involved in that mess. |

You mean Senator Warren has never run for office? I'm surprised to hear that. |

| So you think the Administration is the only place that changes can be made?
Perhaps Warren believes that the Senate is the place where she can be most effective. Perhaps she doesn't believe that she has the knowledge and experience to be president, and - unlike many others - won't seek the office because of that. I think the Presidency is the most public example of the Peter Principle; maybe she agrees.
