Name That Party!

Over the years, friends of mine have insisted that the country needs another political party, one which represents the great mass of the people. I completely agree with them. They all had a problem with coming up with a name for the party.

What name would you suggest for such a political party? It should be something which defines the party, but you have to be careful that it doesn't sound too right- or left wing.

Just for shits and giggles.

Truth, Justice and the American Way

Seriously, the Green Party is pretty well established in Europe. I like having an international continuity.

"Look! Up in the air..."

True about the Green Party, which is why the name is not viable. Considering the attitudes of the greater populace, the party name must avoid any international connection. Also to be avoided are words such as Workers and People, as those bring to mind Communist groups. And you have to stay away from Progressive and Liberal, as the current mood abhors anything described as liberal (while, at the same time, liberal policies themselves are widely admired). And, naturally, you have to avoid any flag-waving terms like Freedom and Liberty, as that whole genre of terms has been claimed by the far right.

'Boobs, Beer & Football Party'?

Well, as someone who doesn't give a flying fuck about football, I would reject it (regardless of my affection for both boobs and beer). But you would garner the interest of the frat boys who don't vote.

If everyone in the country was intelligent, well-informed and rational, the current political dichotomy would result in a 99%-1% split in the vote. The idea is to come up with a party which truly represents the majority. Considering how brand-oriented most idiots in this country are, how do you come up with a name for a party which lets them know that this is the place for them?

I fear that, like the Middle East, if you allow the citizens on the street to cast an unfettered vote, you'll probably end up with religious extremists, moral prohibitionists and scarily-uneducated buffoons in office.
