Trump's Tax Plan

It remains evident that Trump is not a serious candidate.  He has promised  everyone a cup of cocoa and a puppy, with NO CLUE how he would pay for it all.

I'd like to think the American public is smarter than that, but we did fall for it when Bush last proposed it.  "Tax cuts for everybody and the economy will take care of itself."  And before that when Reagan did the same.

The GOP has become the party of fiscal irresponsibility.  Putting the wolves in charge of the henhouse.  Letting the inmates run the asylum. Where are the adults?

I don't think that it would cause 2 trillion of economic growth, either.

Of course Trump's tax plan would make the rich even richer. Every Republican tax plan is geared toward that.

Here's a thought: How about a wealth tax? The vast majority of the populace pays a wealth tax. Nearly all of us pay a property tax on our homes and a great many of us pay a "use tax" on our cars every year. What are these if not wealth taxes? Only the very wealthy are exempt from paying a tax on their primary items of wealth. And consider also that most of us have large mortgages on our homes. We don't even own the property on which we pay the tax.

Here's a question: what's to stop him?

Trump is promising everybody a huge tax cut, corporations included. He will get tons of money for his campaign from wealthy people and corporations who stand to profit. With this money he will run a credible campaign, reach lots of voters, have his marketing people package his bullshit so it smells nice, and Ma and Pa Sixpack will be impressed and vote for the schmuck.

So he gets elected.

And he wrecks the economy. The .01% will profit (as they always do) and everyone else will take it in the shorts.

Trump will use his time in office to push through some changes he wants, and the country will be powerless to stop him.

Yikes. I just realized I'm describing 2000-2008.

Yes, you did. As well as describing 1980-1988.

Will we never learn.
