I was looking for some lightweight entertainment last night, and ran across this doc on Darrell Hammond, the longest-serving cast member of Saturday Night Live.
Wrong.
It was a harrowing story of his discovery of being abused as a child, something he's suppressed so thoroughly he was basically unaware of it. It came out during a Mother's Day sketch on SNL where all the other cast members brought their mothers in. He could not bring himself to contact his mother, so he decided to dress up as his own mother.
When he saw himself in a mirror -- dressed as his mother -- he had a nervous breakdown. He had to be taken to the hospital in a straitjacket.
Lots of therapy later he finally came to grips with what had happened to him.
Lightweight entertainment it was not.
