Book: Half-Earth Empty
PostSubject: Book: Half-Earth   Book: Half-Earth EmptyTue Jun 18, 2019 8:30 am

Edward O. Wilson is a cranky fucker, he practically SCREAMS at you from the pages of this book.  The Earth has entered the Sixth Extinction, this one human-caused and he spends most of the book lamenting the species we have lost or soon will.

He claims people who say it's too late are naïve.

I'm not so sure.

Wilson claims we cannot enter into ecology or preservation until we have fully described and researched the full breadth of biodiversity.  As a specialist in ants he is quick to tell us he has personally discovered 450 species of ant, 354 of them variants within a single genus. It sounds like he's been stung a time or two -- not by ants; by critics.
