Excellent.

It’s hard for me to imagine that ANYONE would object to the idea of equality under the law, but plainly many do. Particularly in this time of Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing we need to be reminded that SCOTUS is the last bastion of reason and fairness in the country. It should be held dear.

Ginsburg just died.

Moscow Mitch will rush through an unqualified right-wing bigot before the election and the Supreme Court will be on the side of evil for a generation.  Ladies, kiss abortion rights good-bye.

I hope there's an autopsy, and I hope the coroner checks the body for signs of novichok.

1. Moscow Mitch will force though a young, ultra-right-wing, Bar Association-rated-unqualified candidate, and he (yes, it will be a white man) will be confirmed by ONE vote (Pence deciding, if it works that way)

7. Voter rights
   
8. Immigrant protections/DACA
   
9. Obamacare gone
   
10. Pre-existing conditions gone
    
11. Environmental protections all gone
    
12. Subsidies to fossil fuel industries increase greatly
    
13. Renewable energy will be stripped of all support
    
14. Automotive efficiency & safety regulations gone
    
15. Christianity will be declared the national religion, Muslims will be declared unwelcome and deported en masse
    
16. Taxpayer funding of church-based charities and schools
    
17. Court will move to overturn the 2020 election on some Trumped-up fraud charges
    
18. Court will move to protect Trump & Barr & Trump's family and all Trump appointees from any post-election indictments
    
19. I would not be surprised if the 14th Amendment is challenged (seriously)
    
20. Reinstatement of the federal death penalty, and broadening of sedition and treason laws to put opponents of the Court in serious jeopardy (including any Congressperson initiating recalls)
    

* - Reproductive rights may be codified in a Constitutional amendment, if the Democratic majorities are big enough (2/3).  But chances are, they won't be

I get a big belly laugh at pundits who suggest, apparently in earnest, that Mitch’s “let the people decide” stance in 2016 should apply in 2020.

It was not a principled stance then. He’s not going to show any principles now. That should be apparent to everyone.

Stacey Abrams as Ruth Bader Ginsburg's replacement?  Why not, it actually makes a lot of sense.  Biden should announce this intention before the election, and "let the voters decide."

Trump's 41% base would be against her.  The other 59% of the country would probably be in favor of her.

Apparently, even 77% of Republicans are in favor of keeping Roe.

Amy Coney Barrett, who will be Trump’s nominee, has stated unequivocally that overturning Roe and enshrining xtianity as the state religion are her highest priorities.
