Trump About to Clean House

Latest speculation is that Trump is about to say "You're fired!" to several people in his inner circle.  He is not happy with the press he's getting, he is not happy with the direction of his presidency, he's not happy with how little has gotten done.  Rather than accept any blame himself, he plans to clean the (white) house.

Anything to throw the wolves off the scent of Russian meddling.

Chaos president, National Enquirer president, lead clown of the media circus. As long as his name is in the news, "all publicity is good publicity."

But if he cleans house, who is going to change him?

Oh, that's good.

It was sent to me by an old friend who is a retired political science professor.

You know, all these political cartoons about how Trump is the stooge of Steve Bannon are very much missing the true story.

This week news came out that Jared Kushner was romanced by the Russian national bank VEB with huge contracts for very little work. Also on the receiving end of Russian largesse were Michael Flynn, Jeff Sessions and Carter Page. This is the way Russian espionage works, they create a relationship with somebody who might someday be in a position to affect policy, then after the fish is hooked they reel them in when they have something they want.

Trump has been proclaiming that he has no business in Russia nor income from Russia, but what's missing in his statements is that people all around him are on the Kremlin payroll and are now inside his inner circle of policy-making and decision-making and deciding who to bomb next. Putin may not sit in the oval office, but he has eyes and ears who do.

This White House is severely compromised -- and it's not the fruitloops Bannon who's wielding the whip.

Not to mention the fact that Trump's empire is basically built on laundering Russian organized crime money.

Possibly Trump will clean house starting at the top.  He is not known for endurance, he hasn't been happy for months, and it's increasingly likely Mueller's investigation is leading to criminal money laundering charges and violation of the FCPA.

Trump might say he'd rather go back to staying under the radar.

Here's the likeliest scenario I think.

Just like the 1974 resignation of Richard Nixon, Trump will solicit a promise from Mike Pence of immunity, and/or an immediate pardon for any and all crimes foreign and domestic, in exchange for vacating the office for him.

I look for this to happen before too long. September, maybe December. Before January.

Can he get pardoned before he's charged and convicted?

I've been saying for months that Trump will resign when he starts to feel the heat.
I am so anxious to hear his rationalization, in which he recounts how the Democrats and Mexicans have ruined the country and he is resigning so he can work behind the scenes to #MAGA.

Bannon is gone.

Everybody in that DVD cover is gone now except Pence.

Mike Flynn, Paul Manafort, Sean Spicer, Steve Bannon, Reince Priebus, Anthony Scaramucci, James Comey, Preet Bharara, how many more before the center of the circle collapses.

Trump and Bannon are demanding "loyalty" from everybody or else they're threatening their jobs.

Not loyalty to policy, or loyalty to principle, or loyalty to the people who elected them.  No, he means PERSONAL loyalty to him, the Moron-In-Chief, and all his stupid adolescent unpresidential antics.  He's turning his administration into a cult of personality, standing for nothing but the personal aggrandizement of Donald J. Trump.  If ever there were the makings of a dictatorship, these are them.

The lengths that some of his cabinet members and desperate office holders are willing to go to keep their jobs is pretty pathetic.  The resulting Republican Party will be eviscerated of any policy wonks, principled people, intellectuals, public servants or selfless individuals.  We're seeing a generational destruction of the two-party system.

Under the current theater of scare tactics, I wish to revise my prediction.

The Republican Senate will never vote articles of impeachment even if the House were to submit them.  Therefore, the EARLIEST Trump could be impeached would be November 2018, when the Democrats sweep the House and Senate elections.  By then, Mueller's report should have provided ample grounds for not only impeachment, but criminal charges.  Assuming Trump stays in office (and doesn't resign, just prior to the elections, with a promise of immunity from Pence) his goose could be cooked by the start of 2019.

By which time the damage done will be apocryphal.
