| Keep your heavy sighs. I said that I didn't like climate change and you suggested a few simple things to alleviate my personal situation. Not the same thing.

| But you don't care about climate change and the 2.3 billion who will be displaced by it. You only care about your air-conditioning bill.
Freaking Hollywood elite! |

Where the hell did you come up with that? In fact, I don't care about the bill. |

| After a period of very nice weather - 80-95 degrees - it is warming up again. Now a little over 109 and rising. But it's a dry heat.

| Just got up to 86 (8:30am) supposedly heading to 97. But it's an ugly steamy heat, feels much hotter. |

| It rained here yesterday. Well it was more of a drizzle. Perfect for pouring the cement foundations for the deck I'm building for a friend. |

My Latino is legal. And so is his gringo wife. (Does anyone really drink mint juleps?) - richard09 wrote:

My daughter lives in Brooklyn and she has told me often how miserable the weather can be there. She was born and raised in San Luis Obispo, which has some of the best weather in the country, so NY weather is not what she was used to. - NoCoPilot wrote:

Wouldn't concrete foundations be more stable? It topped out just a hair under 110 yesterday. Today may be warmer. |

| Strange fucking weather. There are a few small, wispy, high clouds and a gentle breeze. It is thirty-one degrees cooler than this time yesterday: 81 vs 112.
Makes no sense.
But at least we will be able to turn the AC off tonight.

| If it's not heat, it's fire and smoke. Damn.
Smoke from the fire near Big Sur continues to move down the coast. Yesterday, we had strong winds that blew the smoke inland. The smoke was heavy enough that it obscured the smoke from a small brush fire less than two miles from my house. They got the fire out when it was only about ten acres, but in that time the fire had managed to jump the freeway and burn down an abandoned house. They had to close a portion of the freeway, including the ramp we take to get to my house.
Sweet, sweet summertime?

| The fire continues growing. They have issued evacuation warnings for a couple of small towns in the Carmel Valley. One of the towns is Cachagua. In 1968, I worked at the Jamesburg Station and sometimes ate breakfast at the Cachagua General Store. The station is about 1,500 feet from Cachagua. It's a very beautiful place; hate to see it burn down. |

| We had a couple of nice days when the wind kept the smoke away,
It's back today, however, damn it!
The fire has grown to 51,000 acres (about 80 square miles) and is now twenty-seven percent contained.

| Speaking of acres....
Heard a story on NPR a couple days ago about farmers growing blueberries east of the mountains. Blueberries generally like more rain and less sun than Eastern Washington/Eastern Oregon, so what these farmers have done is erect tents to grow them in.
Big tents.
Like 100 acres each. That is unimaginably huge. They have a full-time staff of 12 who do nothing but repair tents. They have another full-time guy whose only job is chasing birds out of the tents.
I have a hard time picturing a 100-acre tent. |

| Putting blueberries aside for the moment...the fire at Big Sur is now about 115 square miles, but it is sixty percent contained. The wind has shifted so we haven't had any significant smoke from it for a few days.
But on the other hand - a fire started yesterday afternoon and it is now about four thousand acres and zero percent contained. It is in rough terrain about fifteen miles from us and there is nothing between us and the fire except brush and trees.
Some of the inhabitants of the area have been ordered to "shelter in place" because the fire surrounded them too quickly for them to evacuate.
Shit! |

| I have no idea what the meaning of your comment is.
I never water the lawn - I don't have one.
I washed the car once. It got dirty again. Fuck it.
