It's true that the philosophical underpinnings of the right wingers in this country are indistinguishable from those of the right wingers in the Middle East. Not just ISIL, but the leaders of the countries and the leaders of their opposition.
It is far easier for political egomaniacs to garner support from fearful, ignorant, egocentric people (right wing) than from educated, altruistic people (moderate-to-left wing). Therefore, it is not surprising that so many uprisings are led by those on the right.
Why don't the liberal commentators in this country publicly draw the parallels you mentioned? Well, who do they work for? And, quite frankly, holding liberal political and social beliefs does not necessarily make you intelligent.
