Book: Theories of Forgetting Empty
PostSubject: Book: Theories of Forgetting   Book: Theories of Forgetting EmptyWed Jul 30, 2014 7:43 am

Saw but did not buy this novel by Lance Olsen. Have you seen it?

There is no front cover. There are two identical back covers.

Every other page is upside down. Therefore there is no up or down.

Many of the pages have text with strikeouts, or handwritten margin notes. It's supposed to look like a notebook. Photos and scraps of paper are reproduced.

Supposedly there's a story in there somewhere but I didn't want to search for it.

Which is odd -- I love experimental music. Why do I have such a visceral aversion to experimental books ?

Level of personal effort required? One you just listen to passively the other, if it's that experimental you have to go to effort to read it. Maybe you just don't have the patience for it?

Maybe -- although I'm not afraid of 600-page books.

Yeah, but those 600 page books are normal, aren't they? In lay out? Idk, just a theory. Or maybe it was just a crap book.

Doing margin notes and reproducing scraps of paper seems pretentious to me. I hate pretentious books.

Oooohh. See, there you go. It offended your sensibilities. It's not all experimental books, just this one, maybe.
