Many young voters sat out Super Tuesday, contributing to Bernie Sanders' losses

Quote :
Biden-backers, Florida Democrats and James Carville, the Democratic Party strategist, all contend that Bernie Sanders has no chance of winning. Biden's Super Tuesday surge seems to indicate the support of Democratic delegates.

But here is the thing - they are wrong.

The data suggests the exact opposite: Sanders is uniquely positioned to win the general election.

Biden has a Burisma Holdings problem.

Biden has a Paradigm Global Advisors problem.

Biden has an impeachment lynching problem.

And a Super PAC problem.

Trump and his Russian-funded campaign are going to wipe the floor with Joe Biden, just like they smeared Hillary into irrelevance.  Why can't the party operatives who engineered this abortion see that?

You know it's pretty bad when I agree with Tucker Carlson.

They are fucking up if they don't run Sanders. Seriously. I've heard life long Republicans express interest in voting for him. Biden is "Obama's Boy", he won't bring in them or the young folks.

"The Establishment" is terrified of Sanders, and that includes not only the entrenched powers within the Democratic Party but also the right-wing establishment, which is another side of the same coin.

I will vote for Biden against Trump in the general, but I've been uncertain what to do with my primary vote this Tuesday (Mail-in ballot). Do I hold my nose and vote for the presumptive (88%) Democratic candidate?

Or do I vote my conscience and hope Sanders wins enough states after Super Tuesday to not make him feel bad for staying in the race? Will my Sanders vote be seen as a protest vote against putting up the ONLY candidate in the field who is guaranteed to lose to Trump?

Jesus. They've succeeded. I've joined the ranks of those who know their votes don't count.

Last night on Chris Hayes he had a panel discussion on why Biden won "the Black vote" in South Carolina.  His panelists, who were of course Black, were quick to point out that "the Black vote" isn't really a thing, that African-Americans are a diverse group and range the whole spectrum politically.

Chris pointed out there really isn't a place for them in the Republican party.

His guests prevaricated, but offered a new analysis.  Black voters, they offered, by dint of their experience with systematic oppression and Jim Crow laws and unequal application of the law, are naturally more suspicious of "law and order" candidates, and government in general.  Sanders' fondness for nationalizing everything, his Democratic socialism, is worrisome to people who distrust the government on a visceral level.

Biden, for all his faults, is not talking about greatly expanding government's role.

Sanders isn't pulling out, although it's crazy not to. In fact, he says in today's newsletter that he'll debate Joe on Sunday the 15th.

Too little too late.

Thanks, I'll take some thin mints.

It strikes me that this coronavirus crisis might benefit Joe Biden in November.

  1. Its a lead pipe cinch that the Trump Administration's handling of the crisis will go down in history as one of the most epic bungles of all time

  2. The disaster assistance infrastructure that Trump dismantled in 2017 was largely overseen by Biden, and he's in a prime position to recreate it

  3. The economic damage to the economy, both from the recession caused by the virus and the huge deficit spending in belated response to the crisis, will leave Biden with different priorities than any other president in history.  We may see the first shrinkage in the military budget, for instance

  4. Sanders' support was strongest among young people, who haven't come out in the primaries.  They have no future to look forward to.  They have no savings.  They don't see any point in voting.  Biden, on the other hand, appeals to older Americans and we have investment accounts that have been devastated by the Trump Crash. Therefore, many more of us might be motivated to jump ship from Sanders or Trump to somebody who offers economic recovery & stability

Bernie is out:
Quote :
No sugarcoating it, last night did not go the way we wanted.

And while our campaign has won the battle of ideas, we are losing the battle over electability to Joe Biden.

So we wanted to give you an update on what is next for Bernie and for our campaign:

First, Bernie will likely have a vote on the coronavirus in the Senate today. He’ll take that vote, and you can expect him to continue his fight to ensure we are protecting working people, low-income people, and the most vulnerable communities, not just giant corporations and Wall Street in any response to the virus.

Then after this vote today, Bernie and Jane are going to get on a plane back to Vermont. Once there, they’ll begin holding conversations with supporters to get input and assess the path forward for our campaign. We will keep you updated as those conversations progress.

In the meantime, please continue to stay safe, and thank you for everything you’ve done so far. It means the world to Bernie and Jane.

In solidarity,

Faiz Shakir
Campaign Manager
