Seems the law used to prosecute hundreds of the Jan 6 insurrectionists was not SPECIFICALLY aimed at insurrectionists attacking the Capitol, so some judge ruled it can't be used.

But what they did is clearly illegal, clearly can't be tolerated, clearly has to be prosecuted somehow. If SCOtUS throws out these convictions it'll be a miscarriage of technicality over principle.

You can't write a law to retroactively prosecute a novel crime.
