Yeah, but how much did he spend on underarm deodorant? <please forgive me; sometimes I just can't help myself.> |

| Local news tonight, we've been bombarded with snow in the mountains the past week, we're now at between 80% and 97% of normal snowpack everywhere.
Yea, no water rationing this summer.
And no, you can't have any, you despoiler of virgins you.

- "...A change in the weather with much needed rainfall on the way...
Dry and tranquil weather will continue through Tuesday afternoon across the Bay area and central coast. By Wednesday morning the first in a series of Pacific storm systems will begin to bring rainfall to the region. Light rain may begin as early as Wednesday morning with rainfall increasing through the afternoon hours of Wednesday and impacting the Wednesday evening commute. In addition there will a chance of thunderstorms...first over the ocean waters and then spreading inland Wednesday night as the main frontal band moves onshore. Lightning...brief heavy rain and gusty southerly winds will be likely as the frontal band moves onshore Wednesday night. Rainfall totals by Thursday morning should average 1 to 2 inches in the coastal hills with a quarter to three quarters of an inch on average for the valleys.
Showers will linger on Thursday but a general drying trend is forecast for Thursday afternoon as the region will be in-between storms.
The next storm will arrive late Thursday night into Friday. This system appears stronger but some of the heaviest rain may be focused more over Southern California. Nonetheless the entire Bay area is expected receive rainfall with the Friday system...with the lightest amounts in the North Bay and heaviest amounts in the Santa Cruz and Santa Lucia mountains. A strong surface low off the coast will likely produce strong southerly winds over the ocean...along the coast and in the hills. Weekly rain totals by Saturday morning should range from one to two inches in the valleys with two to five inches in the wettest coastal hills.
Cold rain showers will likely continue into Saturday with some long range models hinting at more possible storm systems later Sunday and then again next Tuesday.
After a prolonged period of mainly dry weather now is the time to plan accordingly for the wet and windy weather that will arrive later this week." |

Thanks, NoCo. We really are looking forward to the rain, but they are also predicting wind of up to 60 mph. Around here that normally also means power outages. For me no electricity means no heat, no water, no cooking. Hate it. |

| Well, it's been raining on and off all day. Supposed to continue until about 4 in the morning. Then we've got another storm coming in Thursday night, supposed to last until sometime Saturday. As much as I hate this kind of weather, I know that we desperately need it.
They are predicting a total rainfall of the two storms to total somewhere between 1 and 4 inches. Certainly nothing to write home about if you live in, oh, Seattle. But this will to be the biggest storm series we have had in three years. Just a few inches of rain, and now it's a big fucking deal. A few years ago, it was not uncommon to get as much rain in a day as we now get in a year.
Glad I haven't washed the car in two years.

| If by crops you mean weeds, then yes. Each year I have to have the native grasses cut (I prefer "native grasses" to "weeds") and it costs me about a grand. I thought that the one good point in this drought would be a savings of that expense. Then, it turns out, I have brush growing on the property that really loves drought and the stuff really grows. So I had to spend $950 getting the brush cut, but what the hell, I'm still breaking even. Now it looks like the rain we are getting is going to produce just enough weed growth that I will have to spring for that, too. Rain, no rain, I'm fucked either way. |

| It poured rain pretty much all weekend in Seattle. It's raining hard again this morning, and projected to do so for the rest of the week.
Snoqualmie Pass, one of the major East-West routes, is closed due to snow.
Hope you're sharing in this bounty in the Republic of CA. |

| In the past week, we got a little over three inches of rain. About the same as we got in the preceding fourteen months.

| CORRECTION. - Quote :
- For the past thirteen years, we have been using 3-4,000 gallons per month. So, I think we're doing our part.
I have no idea where I got the idea that we used that quantity of water. I've been thinking about it, trying to estimate our water usage, and couldn't come up with a number anywhere near that. Well, today we got our latest water bill and I looked at it (my wife pays the bills so I haven't seen a water bill in years). The real numbers are: Last month, we used 840 gallons of water. The month before, it was 837. That, I believe, is less than 3-4,000, but my math is apparently questionable. Someone check me on that. |

| I will rescind my She-He-It. 840 gallons is believable.
ESPECIALLY with *your* wife. |

| I knew that, but I was being kind in not correcting you. And there was always the chance that you were trying to make a nuanced point with the "scratchy" bit. I mean, wouldn't everyone complain about being hung with a scratchy rope? |
