Friday, Rachel devoted a substantial portion of her show to
the bloodbath at VOA on Wednesday. Trump appointed a right-wing anti-gay filmmaker, with no previous broadcasting experience, to head VOA. In his first day in office, he fired all of the heads of each of the broadcasting subdivisions, of this relentlessly non-partisan broadcasting network. Then he fired the boards of directors of each of these agencies. In one day he wiped out four decades of Pulitzer-Prize-winning experience.
Then he installed his own hand-picked anti gay activists (with no broadcasting experience) to fill their shoes -- including himself as the managing director.
Speculation is, VOA is being turned into a right-wing conspiracy network along the lines of OAN, because Fox has gone soft on facts (occasionally mentioning them).
What this bodes for the future is ominous. If Trump and his trumpanzees control a megamillion dollar media conglomerate, the truth is under attack.
The only nit I had to pick with Rachel's reporting is she kept saying Trump did this or Trump did that. Trump isn't smart enough to pull something like this off.
Obviously smarter people behind the curtain, The Heritage Foundation, Cato Institute, AEI, or Americans For Prosperity (Koch brothers) perhaps, were pulling the strings. Trump just did as he was told.
