How To Avoid Violations of the Emoluments Clause

I've got no problem with Trump wanting to host the next G7 summit at his Doral property.

All he has to do is not charge the dignitaries and their staff & security to stay there, or eat there, or use the conference rooms. He's rich enough. Let him "host" it in the real sense.

Heh, my mistake.  

Stephanie Ruhle was on Chris Hayes last night, and explained THE REAL reason Trump was awarding this contract to himself. June in Florida is a slow time for the resort, so ANY activity cuts his expected losses.  Seems Doral is also run down and in very serious need of renovation.  There are only two "presidential suites" and the Jack Nicklaus wing has a serious bed bug infestation and the golf course is a torn-up mess.  Trump will HAVE to have the resort completely rehabilitated -- at taxpayer expense.

And of course, AFTER the summit, the resort will have to be "put right" for its previous purpose as a golf resort, again at taxpayer expense.

So even if the guests don't pay anything to stay there (or stay there 'at cost' [whatever that means]) during the summit, Trump gets a brand spanking new resort out of the deal at no cost to himself.
