Word for the day: Metanoia

I read the book not long after it came out (I remember reading it while lying for hours on a stack of burn bags in the squadron's back room aboard some damn ship), and I really enjoyed the movie.
But now I'm pissed off. I've seen several American movies which have different endings than the books (and that irritates me), but to remove the concluding chapter from a book is unforgivable and insulting.
