| Thought for sure I'd posted about this before but a search comes up empty.
This 1965 film is widely regarded as a comic masterpiece but I confess, I missed it completely. I've had this DVD for about a year, played it 2-3 times and always end up wondering what the fuss is about. The humor -- what there is of it -- is very French and very dry. Not to my way of thinking funny at all. The movie is just ugly and boring.
I finally sold it on Amazon today. Just to be sure I skipped through it again before packaging it up. Yup, hopeless. Tedious. |

| When I was in high school, our French teacher recommended Monsieur Hulot's Holiday as being absolutely hilarious. I believe I tried to watch it once, and wasn't impressed. Mildly funny at times, yes, hilarious, no. But apparently a lot of people loved Jacques Tati. Then again, the French loved Jerry Lewis, so what do they know. |
