High budget series (looks like BBC) with a huge advertising budget. Consists of short 8-10 minute vignettes about people and their different beliefs around the world -- Jews in Prague, Hindus in India, evangelical xtians, aboriginals, Muslims, nuns, weird sects, a family attending Burning Man. Really well done, and some beautiful photography.
Unfortunately these stories of different beliefs and rituals treat all these beliefs with equal weight. None of the rituals, no matter how silly (one Hindu man decided to hold his right arm in the air for twelve years), comes in for any critical analysis. Each is respected, even if they are loco batshit crazy. In fact, all these wacko beliefs are presented alongside a scientist exploring astronomy in a search for the origin of the universe. His search is given no more seriousness than the arm holder.
This might be PC, but doesn't seem very intellectual.
