I know most courtrooms don't allow photographers, so the news media reply on courtroom sketch artists to portray the visuals.
I got to wondering: who pays the artists? Why is there only one? Where do they sit? Do they get paid a flat fee, or do they get royalties every time one of their sketches is broadcast or reprinted?
