I have a grey fleece blanket I throw over my lap when reading in the winter.

When standing up or sitting down, unfurling the blanket, it invariably causes the music to pause for a fraction of a second. Why does a blanket act as a remote control? My remote is optical, or maybe it's not, maybe it's ultrasonic?  Either way I'm having trouble understanding how a moving fleece blanket generates a signal.
