I'm throwing away a garden hose and sprinkler.
The hose is almost brand new. It was a gift from my sister-in-law, one of those compact hoses that shrinks when you turn the water off. I hate it. It takes a couple minutes, after you turn the water on, to build up pressure inside and reach its full dimensions and length. During this time you only get a dribble out the end. When you turn the water off, it reverses the process, with a steady stream of water continuing to come out for a couple more minutes until the hose has shrunk down again. It pisses me off every time I use it.
The sprinkler is one of those old-time oscillating sprinklers, all metal, heavy-duty construction. It uses an impeller inside it to drive the oscillating bar. Somehow the oscillator is broken, it doesn't sweep, I've already repaired it twice and it has stopped oscillating again. Last month I bought a new-fangled plastic (cheap-feeling) oscillating sprinkler but the new one has adjustments for how WIDE the spray should go as well as how FAR it should sweep in either direction. CLEARLY a superior design to the old timer, which I thought I wanted and went all over town to find last year. Going in the trash.
