DVD Drive for iPad?

The iPad has a nice screen.  I sometimes lay in bed watching Netflix on it, or broadcast TV but it would be nice to be able to watch a DVD.

I know they make portable DVD players -- I have a cheap one I bought at Goodwill -- but a lot of the cost there is in the screen and the one I have looks pretty shit.  Wouldn't a DVD drive accessory make sense for an iPad?  I have an AM/FM clock radio that attaches to the iPad via the Firewire.  I wonder if the screen is accessible electronically through the Firewire port?

Quick search on Amazon turned up nada.

Or how about this?  Since the screen is the limiting factor (size and cost) why not make a portable DVD player that plays into a set of 3D goggles?  It would be like a Walkman for your eyes.  Quick survey says no such animal exists.
