| Greeting the president is a wide-spread practice. Becoming very popular. Here's one of Newt Gingrich's relatives saluting the president. Here's Dennis Hopper with another biker's salute to the president (Harley riders can see the future). |

| In 1923, jockey Fred Hayes was competing in a race through Belmont Park in New York when he suddenly had a massive heart attack and died only halfway through the race. His horse, however, powered through and carried the rider to the finish line first—making Hayes the only man to win a horse race while dead. |

| Sometime in the 1560s, Hans Steininger had what was considered to be the longest beard in the world at the time, at about four and a half feet long. He used to keep the beard rolled up in a leather pouch much of the time, but apparently let it have some free time one night while sleeping. Unfortunately, the house caught fire. Waking, but probably still a bit groggy, Hans ran for the door, but tripped on his beard and fell, breaking his neck and dying instantly.
Death by beard. |

| In July of 1871, a massive bar fight in Ohio left a man named Tom Myers dead, having been shot in the abdomen. Another man present, Thomas McGehan, was accused of his murder.
McGehan, claiming that he was innocent, sought out lawyer Clement Vallandigham to represent him in court. McGehan told Clement that although he didn’t know how Myers had been killed, he certainly hadn’t killed him.
Clement believed McGehan, and after several days of witness testimony and crime scene analysis, he came up with a theory: Myers, in the process of trying to draw his own weapon, had shot himself in the abdomen. After spending a day conducting a number of ballistics tests with weapons discharged at close range, Clement was positive that his theory was correct, and was ready to present it to the court. The following day, Clement stood in front of a judge and explained his theory.
As he was finishing his explanation, Clement decided that a demonstration would further support his claim, so he began to draw his weapon. But in his haste and excitement, Clement’s finger accidentally landed on the trigger, and his gun discharged a bullet into his abdomen — in the exact same way that he was arguing Myers had killed himself.
He died the following day from the injury.
While proving that Myers could have died because he accidentally shot himself when drawing his weapon, Clement Vallandigham accidentally shot and killed himself when drawing his weapon.
And he won the case.
That’s a killer closing argument.

| Many types of whales have a build-up of earwax which increases with time; the size of the deposit is sometimes the only way to determine the age of whales that do not have teeth. |

Citation please. Wookies are a tree dwelling species that handle alcohol fine. I find this hard to believe. |
