| They only imported them for a couple of years. Maybe 3,000 at most.

| Watched a couple of Columbo episodes on TV last week, when laying down was the thing to do, and was impressed all over again with his car. I'd always thought it was a studio creation of no real lineage, and as such a diecast model of it might be hard to find. But it turns out it was a pretty-much-unmodified 1959 Peugeot 403 Cabriolet, which are readily available. Only 504 were made in real life, all sold in France, One would just have to paint it flat primer gray and remove a couple of hubcaps. Add some dents. Bend the bumpers down. Break the grill. Move the mirrors. Add dirt. Not sure if I want a project but I might do this. |

| Ah. That brings back memories. A good friend had a 1955 300SL. What a wonderful car. As with most of the cars he and I had, it wasn't stock, but was powered by Chevy. And the Chevy wasn't stock either, it was built by Keith Black (for those to whom that means anything). My god, it has been fifty years since we roared around in that car. Holy crap! Hang on to that one, NoCo, just for me.

| Officially retired the cars to the garage, and moved my overstock CDs into the freed up space. They JUST fit. I cannot afford to buy a single more CD. |

I'd run out of space again, so this weekend I had to add a new shelf to the top. Twenty two more feet of CD storage, yay. My overflow only consumed about four feet of that. So I pulled three cars out of storage to return to the shelving: my MG Midget, Ferrari Enzo, and of course my orange Opel Manta (1973). Can't do all 22 (or however many I have), that would take up more space than I have. I feel like Jay Leno. In miniature. |

| The most exciting thing that happened today was that I rearranged my CD shelves somewhat. When I'd added the new shelf a month ago all the empty space was in one place. That made it difficult to wedge new CDs in.
Today I spread everything out, left spaces in each shelf, so I don't have to shift things more than a few feet to add new stock.
And into each of these new open spaces, I PLACED A CAR. Whoopie! It's a new day in America. |

| Now that I'm scheduled to become a grandpa (end of July) I'm worried about my car collection.
When I was a little boy they would have been irresistible. |

When I was a little boy they would have been irresistible. That's how I lost my Barbie collection. I kept them in the closet for years after we had the kids. I knew the temptation would be too much. All in unopened packages. When we moved Ben thought it would be cool to put them all out on display. Took about a week for my daughter to pop into the first one and it was downhill after that. |

| I thought of another cool concept car I remembered from my childhood. Took a couple minutes of googling to come up with the details: The 1960 Ford Thunderbird Predicta, designed by Darryl Starbird. I would have been six. Alas it appears nobody has made a die cast model of it -- just the Monogram plastic one. http://thepredictaproject.org/history-of-the-car/ |
