Presidential Vacation Costs

Trump's family business trips and vacations cost taxpayers over $11 million in just his first month in office.1 That $11 million paid for security on Trump's children's business trips on behalf of the Trump business organization and for Trump's three trips to the Mar-a-Lago resort, which he owns.2 By contrast, the Obamas' personal travel expenses were $12 million for one year.3

In light of this exorbitant spending, Representative Earl Blumenauer introduced the No Taxpayer Revenue Used to Monetize the Presidency Act, or, the No TRUMP Act, to prohibit the use of taxpayer funds to pay for events, overnight stays, food, and other miscellaneous expenses at hotels owned or operated by a president or his or her relatives.

Hopefully, taxpayer money isn't paying motel fees to stay at Trump-owned properties.

It is estimated that it is going to cost the taxpayers about three hundred million per year for the wife to stay at their New York hotel.

"THEIR New York hotel"? So the government is paying the Trump organization for the room/suite?

That's gotta be illegal.

Fifty million does seem more reasonable than three hundred. But if I read that article correctly, they are only considering the city's cost. I'm sure there are a bunch of Secret Service types there as well.
