A few years ago the tiny town where I live spent a bunch of taxpayer money doing "civic improvements" and the like, putting hanging flower baskets from the light poles, sidwalks in the business district, and signage.
At the main intersection they installed a "directions sign" with arrows pointing to the main attractions in town -- the city hall, the rec center, the library... and the cemetery. I always get a chuckle out of that last one. The residents don't need directions, nor do their relatives. Out-of-towners might ... but why would they? I think they just ran out of attractions.
