Finally found a use for the internet. Well, another use. Not counting the pr0n.
Weather Underground is a weather site that provides access to privately owned weather stations; about 300,000 of them worldwide.
In a place such as I live in, it's great. The local TV station reports on some random site in the city proper, but many of us live in areas that have significantly different weather. I found a station on Weather Underground that is less than a mile from my house. The station is 300 feet lower in elevation than we are, but that is better than the 800 feet difference to the city.
This is probably of limited interest, especially to you flatlanders
, but it's good for people in my geographic and climatological situation.
