Pictures of People Getting Hurt

The TV and web are full of movies of people getting hurt -- slips, falls, car accidents, sports accidents, people doing foolish things.

Never found that entertaining myself.

What does it say about people who do? Are we a less empathic society because of it?

I would equate all that with slapstick, which has been around for hundreds of years. I doubt that those video clips have any more effect on society than did Punch and Judy.

You're probably right.  Why is the misfortune of others entertaining to us?
