Subject: "Freedom isn't Free" Wed Jul 03, 2013 7:38 am
Saw another sad interview on TV with a mother whose son had died in Afghanistan. She justified his death by believing that he died fighting for freedom. Either ours or the Afghans, she didn't really say.
I find it so sad that parents have to suffer delusions as well as the loss of their sons. I wanted to yell at the TV.
It's as sad as the statement (often accompanying) that "he's in a better place now."

I agree with you on this, NoCo, but I have no problem with the parents attaching some significance to the loss of a child in order for them to get through it.
The "in a better place" crap, though, is just that: crap.
