All of the news channels and many sports and topical shows all invite viewers now to Tweet or Instagram or Facebook about the show they are watching.
Why? Does anybody read viewer comments? Does anybody care?
I have, two or three times, attempted to comment on some online print article (is that the right term, "online print article"?) only to find HUNDREDS of very poorly spelled, very poorly considered and surprisingly illiterate comments (often racist, sexist, and/or borderline moronic) on there before me. It has so far discouraged me from "joining the conversation." With that level of discourse in the public forum, I really wonder why the news channels are trying to encourage viewer feedback.
Why? Do they get money for higher traffic stats or something?
