I was all worried about the sequester myself -- until I heard it is only a 5% cut. Eight percent for Defense. That's hardly draconian.

I'm starting to think the whole thing is a Kabuki drama.

The cuts phase in over ten years. More like a very gentle slope than a cliff. Like many other things in this idiotic government, it's mainly something to get air time and use for an election talking point. If anyone in DC was serious about the economy, they would quit yacking about this crap and do something to put people to work.

Costs money. Nobody wants to do stimulus spending.

I wouldn't say "nobody" wants to do it.
The fucking deficit (which has been steadily declining for the past four years) is a wonderful campaign topic; little more.

Nobody in Washington can talk about it, because it's unpopular. But job-creating policies are the only thing that will work.

Yep, that's 100% correct. Too bad Grover Norquist still has the House by the yarbles.

Last fall, President Barack Obama’s administration gave a detailed report about which agencies had to cut costs–and which government folks were exempt... but Congress members made sure their own paychecks were safe when passing the “sequester law” in 2011.
