False if you mean level. True if you mean slanted relative to the slope of the hill. - NoCoPilot wrote:

In general, adverse possession should not exist. Intellectual property rights should expire after a short period, e.g., seven to ten years. |

I have no idea what an ankle bat is, but just to be safe i"m going to say true. - NoCoPilot wrote:

If they're not exported, then they cannot "come from there." Ergo, false. - NoCoPilot wrote:

Only false on St. Patrick's Day. |

| I'm guessing false -- the cause of red eye is the same principle in cats & people. All the software does is overlay the red dot with a fuzzy black dot.
It should work. |

It should work. I specifically asked about the flash unit red eye reduction. The reflection from a cat's eyes is green or yellow, and software red eye removal does not work (because, duh, there is no red). You have to manually edit the eye color. Sometimes, when you catch a cat's eyes at an angle of 45 degrees or so, you will get a red reflection. But for some reason, the red eye removal in some software still won't work with it. (This question occurred to me because I was trying to remove an actual red-colored reflection from a cat's eyes in software. It didn't work, but the red eyes in the person in the picture cleared up just fine. Cats fuck with us every chance they get. |

Ergo, your question was limited to that rare off-axis retinal reflection. I wonder, is this caused by the cat's eye lens or is the tissue inside the eye really that different? - InfoPlease wrote:
- Cats, dogs, and many nocturnal creatures appear to have glowing eyes because the back of their eyeballs include a special reflective layer called the tapetum lucidum. This helps animals (cats in this case) see better in low light by working like a mirror on the retina to reflect the light back through the eyes, giving them a second chance to absorb the light. The colors seem more visible at night because the pupils are dilated wider than during the day, allowing more of the tapetum lucidum to be visible.
Humans don't have this layer. That partially explains why when you get your developed photographs back the subjects have red spots in their eyes. This is caused by the light from the flash traveling through the pupil and illuminating the blood-cell rich retina at the back of our eyes.
The secret behind so-called "red-eye-reducing cameras" is that they use two quick flashes instead of one. The theory being that the first flash will cause the subject's pupils to restrict and let in less light, while the second will be used for the actual picture.

| It's the tissue. People don't have it.

| I was watching some nature documentary, might have been (yes I think it was!) the "making of' bonus features on the BBC "Life" series, where the camera crew and drivers and such were camped for the night in the middle of a jungle clearing. They heard a faint rumble and turned on a flashlight, pointing it into the bush.
Dozens of yellow dots stared back at them.
Eerie!!! |

| It doesn't even require a jungle for the eery feeling. The shining eyes of a house cat on a dark night is a little creepy. Two little lights slowly moving toward you is all you can see. If you just crawled out bed, half asleep, it takes a moment to realize that it's just the damn cat.

| My cat, bless her wicked soul, doesn't understand daylight savings time or the longer summer days. She awakens with the light, and if I'm still sleeping she makes sure I know it's time to feed her. If I ignore her she escalates, resorting to claws in about 10 minutes.
This morning she met the wall. |

| My wife gets up about 3 a.m. and the cat comes in and gets on the bed next to her ten to fifteen minutes before that. The cat has brunch at 11:30 and evening meal at 3:00 p.m.
When my wife is out of town on business, the cat just sits quietly in the bedroom door until I get up (somewhere between 7 and 8 ), because she has learned that I won't get out of bed to feed her.
Interestingly, no matter what time she has her morning meal, she comes to me for brunch around 11:15 to 11:30. I would expect that the time between meals would be the determinant, but it's not. If I happen to be gone somewhere and she doesn't get her brunch until maybe 1:00, she still comes in asking for the evening meal at 3. I find this very odd.
I does take her several days to get accustomed to daylight savings (or "Hell Week" as cats refer to it). |
