| One person's nightmare call.Reminds me of trying to cancel Dish Network after my dad died. It took 20 minutes for them to believe that the bill payer was deceased, and for a year afterward I still received offers to re-instate his service at a discount. |

| The caller screwed up. When you call to disconnect a cable or satellite service, they transfer you to the Retention Dept., where you get assholes like this guy who try like hell to talk you into keeping your account.
Never, never try to discuss anything with these guys. LIE TO THEM.
When I cancelled Dish Network, as soon as the asshole started his spiel, and asked why I was cancelling my service, I told him I was moving to Iran. End of discussion.

| Is "moving to Iran" more effective than dying? |

| Apparently it is for Dish. I was referring to the poor fellow on the audio clip, not you.

| Yes I know. I'm just wondering if "moving to Iran" is closer to dying and going to Heaven, or dying and going to Hell. |

| Probably closer to dying and going to Detroit.

| The guy had it right at the start: Get it in writing! Of course, unless it was a professionally created binding contract it would have meant nothing to Comcast. In his position, I would have required that the cable be installed in my name before buying the house.
Like most of the people in the country (those who don't live in major metropolitan areas), he has found out that the USA is a technological third-world country.
