I always thought I had a brown thumb, but no, it turns out I just didn't have information. Turns out I can grow cool shit left and right...

My coral hibiscus:

My Gardenia, it's currently trained into a lollipop style tree.

One of the hybrid teas:

As you can see the roses are my fave:

I also have tomatoes and watermelon and cucumbers growing and orchids. I need to get pics of the orchids.

Beautiful flowers (and pics), Jenni.

I can't even grow cactus. Now, weeds -- I'm okay with those.

Thanks.

Ironically, this is one of the few things that my dad would be proud of me for. Having tomatoes ripe in May would make him happy too, but he'd be mad I beat his record, lol.

I find I'm partial to the roses though. They are very straightforward, they give exactly what you put into them. Ignore them and they'll survive but they won't thrive. Pamper them and they will create the most beautiful hand sized blooms, shit you'd never find at a florist. I like it. It's a level field, gardening. And no people involved.

Seems like over the last couple months I'm more and more finding out who my real friends are. Plants aren't like that. They don't pretend. It's refreshing.

At our last house, I tried putting in some flowers. Didn't work out for me. I followed instructions, but still no luck.

In this house, we have no flowers and no lawns. Just six acres of trees, brush, and weeds that get cut once a year. My excuse for leaving everything natural is that the deer will eat everything. Sounds good, right? Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Nice to see you back, Jenni. We've all missed you.

Maybe a plant photo would do for the Panda's Thumb photography contest?

Gorgeous, Jenni! Mrs. NoCo and I have nothing but "native plantings" because we reliably kill anything else. I can never remember what wants a lot of water and attention and what wants none.

So now everything gets "none." Weeds can be quite attractive.
