I have become extremely jaded, when it comes to music. It's been a long time since I heard anything new & interesting in jazz. It's been years since I heard a rock album that surprised me. I listen to a lot of Pandora, mostly stuff I've already heard, in novel combinations.
Every now and then, though, I tune into a Pandora contemporary classical channel I created, and I'm sometimes, even often maybe, surprised by wonderful new discoveries.
Today I discovered and had to order music by Joseph Schwantner (percussion concerto), Michael Torke (another percussion concerto) and Guicomo Cataldo ("Opere por Orchestre"). Marvelous, wonderful stuff. Spend most of the day listening to Jennifer Higdon, whom I'd had to investigate last time I played this channel.
