My parents were part of what's been called "The Greatest Generation." They defeated Hitler. They brought middle-class status to millions. Technology and medicine advanced greatly.
My generation, not so much. We have rampant disinformation, rampant division. Lies and misinformation rule half the populace. We failed to do anything about climate change, despite clear warnings. We have made little progress in racial disparity, and we've actually gone backward on women's rights.
We haven't done any space exploration, or made renewable energy common, or solved world hunger or endemic diseases.
And finally, we may lose our democracy forever.
